Gladiator II Review

Ready to re-enter the Colosseum in ancient Rome? In 2000 Gladiator was released, the historical epic won five Academy awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Russell Crowe. Twenty-four years later director Ridley Scott has given us a sequel - Gladiator II. Scott had a mammoth task at hand, how do you create a sequel to one of the greatest films of all time? Gladiator II is a four-star exhilarating historical epic. It fails to live up to its predecessor, but that doesn't not mean it is a bad film or even an unworthy sequel. I greatly enjoyed the cinematic experience that is Gladiator II, in all its historically epic style! Read on for my full review, there will be minor spoilers.  Set two decades after the events of Gladiator, you may expect to find a free Rome ruled by a senate that answers to the people, as was the dream of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. a Rome that Maximus fought and died to reform. However, Rome is now ruled by young and cruel twin Emperors Caracalla (Fred He...

My Avengers: Infinity War Theories

With only 50 days until Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas (How great is it that this film now has the same global realse date - incase you did not know Avengers: Inifinity War now comes out on the 27th April globablly now instead on just in the UK and everywhere else a week later). I am beyond excited for this film and I have been forming theories since the first mention of an infinity stone. This film has been what Marvels Cinematic Universe has been building towards since the beginning and phase 3 has set the film up perfectly. Below are some of my theories so give them a read (there will be spoilers from serval of the MCU films):

Updated Theory: Dr. Strange Will Turn Back Time
So the other night after watching the second trailer again (watched it more times than I can count now) and another theory came to mind. This idea was that towards the end of the film, the Avengers will be dying and Thanos will be wining, so in a last ditch attempt to stop Thanos Dr. Strange will use the Time Stone and take us back in time. Therefore in Avengers 4 everything that has happened will be reversed and the Avengers can prepare to stop Thanos once and for all. If this is true expect characters to be resurrected and new characters to be added.

1. Hulk and Bruce Banner
I have a feeling that somehow Bruce Banner and the Hulk may become two separate beings, it has happened in the comics before. However I think that Banner will still be part of the fight in the film in Iron Man's hulk buster suit which we first saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron

2. Loki
Okay so since Avengers: Assemble I have had the theory that Loki has been working with/ for Thanos the whole time. Yes we know he was working for Thanos in the first Avengers movie. But once he lost the battle of  New York he had to find a way to get the Tesseract back for Thanos, Which is why he faked his death and took over the rule of Asgard. In Thor: Ragnarok  it is hinted that he takes the Tesseract (lets be real we all know he did), the reason he took this is so that he can give it to Thanos because he is either working with him still or has to repay a debt.

3. Loki Part 2
So in true Loki fashion I think he will switch sides throughout the film, first working with Thanos and then with the Avengers (well Thor anyway). But what we can count on is Loki will do what suits Loki.

4. Captain America will die
I think its fair to say that at least one Avenger will bow out in this film. I think the most likely contender is Cap - and that isn't because of contracts bla bla bla it is because there are now two potential Captain Americas in the MCU: Bucky and Falcon. Although if he does die I will indeed be very sad (same goes for any of the Avengers to be honest).

5. Falcon will become Captain America
If Steve Rogers does drop the shield I think that Falcon is the most likely candidate to pick it up. Plus in the images released today it seems his new costume is a huge hint that this might happen. (take a look at Entrainment Weekly if you want to see them).

6. The Soul Stone is in Wakanda
It is the only stone not to make an appearance yet, and my bet is that the Soul Stone is in Wakanda. It is thought to be the strongest of the infinity stones so Thanos will be keen to add it to his gauntlet. From the trailers already out it looks like a large battle takes place in Wakanda and this could be because the stone is there. Also Wakanda as we saw in Black Panther is incredibly developed and this could be due to the effects of the stone (but it may also be because Wakanda is awesome).

7. Scarlett Witch
Okay so she has the potential to be the most powerful member of the Avengers. It is no secret that she has a thing with Vision and we all know that Vision has an infinity stone in his head, it is likely that Thanos may kill him to retrieve the stone. If this happens it would be great to see Wanda go a little crazy, maybe bring Vision back (or it would be really cool if she somehow magic's her brother back to life). Either way it would be great to see her take her magic to another level in this film.

8. Captain Marvel and Wasp
Captain Marvel has yet to appear in the MCU her film is scheduled for release in 2019, but it would be great if she makes an appearance in Infinity wars. Also I certainly hope Wasp  makes an appearance especially as Ant-Man and Wasp is set to be the final film of phase 3. Plus we could always do with more female superhero's.

The 27th of April can not come soon enough, I am sure that between then and now I will come up with even more theories. But the one thing I hope to get from this film is a single epic moment, the superhero team up shot in Avengers Assemble, where the stand in a circle and the camera spins and the music is like wow, gave my goose bumps and is one of my favourite scenes of all time, I am looking for that level of awesomeness in Infinity Wars.

Please let me know what theories you have for the upcoming film and if you agree or disagree with my theories.
Thank you for reading it means so much.

Cool theories, but what about the orange 'heart' stone in Heimdall's armor? Plus his all-seeing orange eyes... couldn't he have the Soul Stone?

Nice ideas! Was thinking about a future blog post, what are your thoughts on the negotiations between Marvel studios and 20th Century Fox? And if the rights are returned to Marvel Studios, which characters from the X-Men/Fantastic Four universe would you like to see first enter the MCU? :D

I wish they'd make a film only about Groot!! I am Groot.
